01. Introduction

These three realities are the root of all existence.

Being the essence of relationship, they are always in dynamic balance and are shared within the absolute harmony. As saàvit-sandhiné-hlädhiné are ever-present in the spiritual realm, supporting and including each other, so sattva-rajas-tamas are reflected in the material domain, following the same dictation…the same pattern.

It all begins with these three moods in Våndävana.

While obviously expressed and predominantly present in particular cantos, chapters and verses, sambandha-abhidheya-prayojana are yet at the same time all-pervading, always interacting and inseparable.

This is clearly explained by the äcäryas, and only in this way can these maxims be truly understood by the devotees.

They are not material subjects for general study.

Why? – Because:

1. They are directly Kåñëa Himself in three different forms

2. They are the three main loving moods of Çrématé Rädhäräëé. These three truths are as inseparable as the parts of Kåñëa’s body.

And as Kåñëa may be understood, served and attained only through Her mercy, Kåñëa is only revealed in terms of these three principles presented in the sastra. Çrémad-Bhägavatam, Vedänta-sütra, Gäyatré and all the Vedas must be analyzed in this way – as categorically emphasized by Çré Caitanya Mahaprabhu and all great äcäryas.

The Ñaö-sandarbhas and Bhägavad-arka-marici-mala shed clear light on Kåñëa in terms of these three principles; nothing needs to be invented – only studied in accordance with this knowledge.
